Working from Hope

It’s 2020. The world is going through an unprecedented time. This is a time for FRIENDSHIP and HOPE.

Sometimes it feels strange, sometimes uncertain; for a lot of people, it is very painful. Our hearts go out to everyone and anyone who has lost a loved one during this time.

Whatever happens next, we know the world will require new ideas, stories, art, community, friendship, more than ever. So we’re #WorkingFromHope.

We’re working (from home) to tell a story of hope by:

  • Creating online poetry workshops for our Change the Word collectives in Sheffield and Coventry - now being co-led by the Change the Word poets themselves.

  • Hosting online Good Chance Socials for the group of refugees, migrants and locals we’ve been meeting and inviting to theatres regularly in London.

  • Keeping in touch with The Jungle cast, who have been amazing through all this, and devising an exciting new interim project for us to make together.

  • Keeping connected with our Mexico crew, who were about to build the Good Chance Dome in Tijuana, and planning activities for when we do build it.

  • Working online with the group of brilliant performers we’ve met through our Domes in Paris, La Troupe, to explore creating something new together, eventually to share with an international audience.

  • Working with some of the members of our Good Chance Ensemble on their new project ideas, including a new play we can’t wait to tell you more about (when we can!).

  • Sharing words of hope in our Poem Packages - poems from our Change the Word collective that we’re sending out tucked into food parcels to self-isolating people across the country.

  • And dreaming up a game we are really excited to share with you and as many people as possible very soon, which gets you creating and playing and connecting with others around the world!

Refugee Camps and Social Distancing

While we are lucky to be able to adhere to social distancing rules, we acknowledge how social distancing isn’t possible in a refugee camp. We’re working with Help Refugees to keep updated and shine a light on the situation in refugee camps around the world.

Thank you for your support!

Thank you to all the Good Chance Family and wider community for all your support at this challenging time. We’ve had some generous donations from supporters over the last few weeks, which is directly helping us support our communities who have been hardest hit by this global situation.

If you would like to donate to our work and help us continue, thank you. We know it’s not easy to donate if you’ve lost income, so if you can’t donate but still want to support us, even just telling a friend about Good Chance and sharing this page with them would really help us. Thank you.
