Giving the Body a Voice

In Autumn 2022, Good Chance partnered with Siobhan Davies Studios to provide a series of free movement workshops exploring communication through the body and use this to help people connect together beyond language.

Each Friday afternoon the group gathered at Siobhan Davies Studios in Elephant & Castle to explore movement, as a method of expression and connection with Movement Director & Choreographer Emily Orme.

Over the course of the six weeks we celebrated our individual bodies and cultures, all whilst discovering new ways of moving, creatively interacting with each other and having fun!

  • The sessions will run for six weeks from 30th September to 4th November every Friday afternoon from 16:30 until 18:00.

There will also be a taster session on Friday 23rd September for you to get an idea what what the series will entail. This will be followed by an opportunity to socialise and get to know each other, with hot drinks and cakes provided. We’d like people to sign up in advance for free, but its also fine to just turn up on the day!

  • Each week the workshops will take place at Siobhan Davies Studios in Elephant and Castle. The address is: 85 St George's Rd, London, SE1 6ER

  • The sessions will be open to any female identifying people over the age of 18.

  • The workshops are completely free for all attendees, and Good Chance will pay for your travel expenses to attend.

  • Absolutely! The aim of the workshops is to explore communication beyond language, so there are no language requirements to attend.

  • This workshop is aimed at any and all people looking to explore connection, communication and expression through their bodies, so any and all access needs will be welcomed in the space, and the activities will be respectful of the plurality of bodies and experiences in the space.

  • You do not need any dance or movement experience at all. Only a curiosity to explore expression through your body in any way you feel comfortable.

  • Absolutely, please email hello@goodchance.org.uk and we’d be happy to answer any further questions you might have.

This is a past event that took place between September and October 2022.
