Open Casting Workshops: Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th November
Location: Newcastle City Centre

Casting for a new show about those first moments women and girls feel “shushed”, when patriarchy first made itself known in their lives, its a radical act of reclamation and resistance. It will blend testimonies, movement & bold design, it will also be full of fun and humour.

They are looking to cast three female actors/devisers of all ages, body types and backgrounds to come on board for the first research and development phase of this brand new show. They are particularly interested to meet actors from the north east, actors from the Global Majority and those who are not originally from the UK and bring an international perspective.

The fee is £700 per week for the R&D weeks. Travel and living away allowance will be provided for actors we cast from outside the north east region for the R&D weeks.

They’re seeking an inspiring male theatre-maker with a proven record of supporting young people to devise high-quality performance work. You’ll be passionate about working with marginalised communities and committed to supporting wellbeing through the arts. Your practice will centre on film or music, and you’ll co-deliver our acclaimed programme alongside their Assistant Director, and more.

Rather than accepting scripts year-round, we have distinct submission windows for scripts. It is not a competition but a means by which the BBC seeks out the best writing talent. They look for writers with the strongest potential to be developed and produced for BBC broadcast. The Open Call is specifically for Drama or Comedy/Drama scripts written for Film, TV, Radio, Stage or Children’s TV/Radio scripts which are a minimum of 30 pages long (excluding title/character pages).

LegalAliens Theatre run unique, FREE theatre classes every Monday at 6.45pm in Tottenham Hale. The sessions are dedicated to migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and anyone with English as a second language, however they are always happy to welcome members of the local community who cannot access traditional acting classes. The sessions, all led by migrant artists from their team are an incredible opportunity to build friendships, express creatively and learn new skills.
