Tuesday 18th June, 1pm
Shop Front Theatre, Coventry

An intimate lunchtime performance of poetry with Inua Ellams, one of the leading voices in British poetry and playwriting, plus members of the Change the Word collective.

Including lunch shared together after the performance from Arabian Bites.

Inua Ellams is an internationally touring poet, playwright, performer. He wrote the multi award-winning play Barber Shop Chronicles (National Theatre) and the renowned autobiographical piece An Evening With An Immigrant. His current play in verse, The Half God of Rainfall, has just finished its run at Birmingham Rep.

Inua performs his poems alongside members of the Change the Word Coventry collective, a group of new poets, some newly arrived in Coventry as refugees, some born and bred here. They read their work and are in conversation with Inua about the art and heart of writing poetry.

Poetry pops up in unusual places around Coventry - Inua and Change the Word perform at Shop Front Theatre, an old fish and chippy now filled with theatre!

Join Inua and Change the Word for a lunchtime session of beautiful words and conversation - open to all with food shared together afterwards.
